‘Headhunterz - Rock Civilization (Technoboy remix)’ is a track that I received a lot of comments about after playing it for the first time at Defqon.1. Positive, but also negative comments. Let’s state first of all that I don’t feel like I have to defend myself. Without sounding arrogant, I think all the DJ’s that played at the main stage have been working really hard for years in bringing hardstyle to the level where it is nowadays. Our job is to give you all a good time. And the best way to do that job is to do what we believe in. I believe in my track, I’ve always been experimenting with other styles and I’m happy with the result. But I do want to explain something, out of respect for Gigi D’Agostino. In my opinion he is the biggest producer in the dance scene, one of the originators of the kick-and-bass style we al love so much and he’s also the one that invented the Lento Ma Violento. I love what he does. I also have a lot of respect for Headhunterz, who did a fantastic job in closing the main stage of Defqon.1 this year. My remix of ‘Rock Civilization’ is a tribute to Gigi D’Agostino and Headhunterz. I felt like experimenting by blending their styles with my own music and like I said, I’m content with the result. Of course, everyone is free to have his or her opinion, love it or hate it. But I do hope people will understand my intentions and respect this experiment. I loved playing the track at Defqon.1 and enjoyed watching the crowd having a good time during my set.

We need to stay innovative to keep the music alive! In my news message of 15-06 I spoke to you about my remix of Rock Civilization and how much I loved doing something different. I didn't name that Technoboy's Undersound Mix for no reason: I knew I wanted to take this further by developing a whole new sound in order to create a revolution in hardstyle as we know it! I bet you all know how hardstyle originated: from a kick and a bass. The kick is essential in hardstyle, but the last years this music is getting harder and harder and therefore the kick isn't always as intense as it could (or should) be. I was inspired by the Lento Violento of Gigi D'Agostino and I just knew that the combination of these styles would do magic on the dancefloor. And who else could better express this magic than the number one MC: Ruffian?

Dear fans, you have every right to be critical and demanding. But please, step outside of the box for once as well. I'm checking if you dare to open your mind, so you will understand these two worlds combined…

Does this generation of kick and bass still knows what it's like to really FEEL a kick? After Qlimax, the answer will be 'yes'.
